There’s an eye-catching new addition in the heart of Bonifacio Global City, Metro Manila’s thriving financial and cultural hub. The new Nike Courtyard will serve as a community gathering spot, centered around two FIBA-standard full courts and one half-court made by Nike Grind licensee Playtop with enough recycled rubber to equate to the outsoles of roughly 30,000 pairs of shoes.
Featuring a bold design created by Filipino artist and basketball enthusiast Kiefsix, the new sustainable courts are more evidence of Nike’s commitment to protecting the planet and growing the global game. Kiefsix chose colors, patterns and details that would appeal to young athletes and incorporate elements of local and national Filipino culture.
The Courtyard is much more than a re-energized physical space. It is intended to be a cultural catalyst, accelerating the nation’s growing interest in basketball through weekly pickup games and camps for players of all ability levels. In addition, the Courtyard will offer programs to draw more women and girls into sport, including activities through Girls Got Game and women’s community groups.
With Nike Courtyard, ballers of all levels look to do the game, their city, and Filipino culture, proud.
